Bao Makers, Horne Road

Worth a try.

Yet another jem within the precincts of Jalan Besar Stadium. This clean cut, no frills eatery puts a twist to the famous Kong Ba Bao that we are all so familiar with. Remember that time you ate Kong Ba Bao to celebrate your grandfather’s birthday? *sniff*

With flavours like Salted Egg Shrimp, Chilli Crab and Bulgogi on their plate, you’ll be spoilt for choice. However, if you don’t fancy having a bao for your dinner, they also serve dons, which are actually rather small portioned to be honest. Perhaps it’s meant to be eaten with their baos

This is actually my forth time here, but somehow I never got down to taking pictures of their baos.

Fried Salmon with Torched Mentaiko Sauce and Onsen Egg ($17)

Beef Slices with Onsen Egg ($15)

The dons make for very good comfort food. A wide top and narrow bottom means that you have to mix and mash your food (rice, onsen egg, beef / salmon) before gobbling them up. Quite nice la.

If I’m not wrong they had revised their mains more than once. I don’t remember seeing some of the items during my fourth visit there. If this is really the case, then it’s good that they are always looking for ways to innovate!
