Taiwan Night Markets, Cineleisure Orchard

Taiwan Night Markets have been around at Cineleisure for some time now. I recall when it first opened it was mad crowded and chaotic but the crowd has toned down considerably so dining there has become a much more enjoyable experience now.

Would always visit this place whenever I’m feeling peckish and craving for Taiwanese food. There are some misses and after much trial and error, here are my top picks!

Popcorn chicken ($ depending on what you pick)

The Popcorn Chicken stall is my absolute favourite snack stall in Taiwan Night Markets! This is where you can get an assortment of fried snacks such as plum sweet potato fries and fried oyster mushroom. They come perfectly seasoned and is a great side snack to whatever else you’re having.

Oyster Mee Sua ($5)

The braised flavour of the oyster mee sua is rather flavourful and I love the consistency of this dish. Not too watery and not too thick. Remember to add chilli oil because it’s a game changer!

Braised pork rice ($6)

The braised pork rice here is one of the better ones in Singapore. The braised pork is soft, flavourful and savoury. Comes with a fried egg and preserved vegetables. For the price I thought this dish is rather value for money!

Red Tea ($3.50)

Have tried a couple of drinks from Charlie! Charlie! but I find myself going back to their red tea after a few rounds. The crushed ice gives a fun, additional layer of texture to the drink. If red tea is not your type of beverage, go for the fruit tea instead which packs a truckload of citrusy fruits and promises a refreshing punch to your meal.

Overall I do fancy this place and hope the crowd is sustainable in the long run. When I visited across time, I noticed some stalls either in the midst of moving out, or had combined with others to streamline operations. Please give them your support!
