Fook Kin, endearingly known as Singapore’s eatery for mouth watering, satisfaction guaranteed roast meats, has expanded their menu in recent years to bring more variety and fulfill happy tummies. This premium zi char place has managed to uphold their roast meat standards throughout the years which is quite a feat in today’s culinary scene.

Starting with the classics, these are your must order dishes whenever you’re at Fook Kin. The char siu is nicely caramelised, soft and flavourful while the roast pork has a good crunch and still bursting with juices even after being left out for a while.

The Dry Ice Sweet Sour Pork was presented in a dramatic manner complete with dry rice which apparently helps to keep the sweet sour pork crispy. I love that the dish came with the right balance of sweet and tangy, and the sauce itself did not overly drench the pork.

The good ol’ charcoal roast duck now comes with a ginger plum sauce edition!! I have always liked their duck for its tenderness but having a sweet savoury gravy definitely elevates the dish and pairs well with rice.

If you’re game to share some staples, the fried rice with crispy pork is a hearty and satisfying choice, while the curry bee hoon is perfect for those wanting a little kick in their meal.

The crispy lotus in the curry bee hoon is such a clever addition to contrast the textures and truly showcases Fook Kin’s attention to detail. However, the Singaporean in me did feel that the curry was a little lacking in the spiciness department.

Fook Kin constantly innovates and comes up with new dishes so keep your eyes peeled for your next zi char gathering!
